| The Liturgy Commission has responsibility for all issues related to prayer and worship in the parish. It plans all the seasonal liturgical celebrations through a process of prayer, reading and reflection upon the readings for the seasons. It functions with an Environment Committee, which is responsible for planning and implementing the decorations of the church for each of the liturgical seasons. The Liturgy Commission also functions with a Hymn Selection Committee, which chooses all the music sung at the liturgies. The Liturgical Ministry includes: commentators, readers, Eucharistic Ministers, servers, ushers, choirs, cantors, and musicians. These people are very visible and play an important part in the Liturgy on the weekends. Behind the scenes we have sacristans who set up the sacred vessels for weekend liturgies, and clean them after mass. They also assist with altar/sacristy care. Then there are seamstresses who mend and clean the vestments as needed, and there are those who make infant baptismal gowns. And of course, those who give others rides to church. We can't forget the ones who take care of the flowers in the building. |
